He entered Hungarian politics in the years preceding the fall of communism and he has remained one of its most prominent figures ever since. He has been serving as Hungary’s Head of State since 2012. He is also president of the Social Committee responsible for the organisation of the Budapest International Eucharistic Congress. He was also one of the creative minds behind the publication titled Égre néző – Isten jelenléte a magyar költészetben (Looking to the Sky - Gods Presence in Hungarian Poetry). Taking the advice of his voice coach, he practiced public speaking by reciting poems, including ones about God, which had a very profound impact on his life. In the foreword to the volume, he quotes Attila József: “God was standing here right behind me and I’d searched the whole wide world to find him”
