Card. Andrew Yeom Soo-jung

Archbishop of Seoul
View related events

Andrew Yeom Soo has created a media empire. He is the first Catholic leader ever to visit North Korea. Facilitating a peaceful dialogue between the countries is a cause that lies close to the Cardinal’s heart. In Seoul, he opened a canteen for people in need, and often even the Cardinal himself is there distributing meals. He received his diploma in theology in 1970, after which he started serving as a pastor at a parish. He is also the President of the Caritas in Seoul. In 2012 he was appointed as the Archbishop of Seoul, and two years later he was named a cardinal.
