S.E.R. Balázs Bábel

This year, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kalocsa-Kecskemét, Balázs Bábel celebrated the 45th anniversary of his ordination – He is serving as the head of the second oldest Hungarian diocese (the first being Esztergom) established by St. Stephen I. For years, he had played an integral role in the education of the future generation of priests at the Central Seminary in Budapest. He firmly believes in the following: “Throughout history the great ship of the Church was battered by storms time and time again. Now too – in the 21st century – it is being pounded by enormous waves, but as the Church Father had already told us, and as our experience over the past two millennia have also shown “no matter how hard the waves crash on its side, it always stays afloat.”
