A lot of us like to step into the churches even during weekdays. Simply because we need that spiritual experience, that grace we can find there. If we go into a church, the presence of God touches us in the silence. We can have a personal encounter, which is lacked by so many. We can meet God, and that is why that the churches be open, we shall not close the doors. It is not easy to do, because it requires even a material sacrifice, but it does worth it!

Now finally the will be an opportunity for the people of Budapest to go into the house of God. From 1st January a perpetual adoration will start in the church of Our Lady Parish in the downtown of Budapest. "If we already know when we will pray in front of the Holy Eucharist, we shall mark it on the site. The Heart of Jesus is the spring of life and holiness. I pray for his blessing upon all the participants of this adoration" - said Cardinal Péter Erdő, the Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, Primate of Hungary in his welcoming words for the start of the homepage.

This event is highly important not only for the Our Lady Parish, but also for the city of Budapest and the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest, and it also a help for the preparation for the International Eucharistic Congress in 2020. The local organizers expect the application of both individuals and communities (up to 70 persons).

We trust that the perpetual adoration will have a positive impact on the life of Budapest and will help the city's turn towards Christ!

Why can the adoration be important? Between 2008 and 2010 the city of Juarez in Northern Mexico was considered to be one of the most dangerous places in the world because of the violent deeds originating from the drug-business. But the chapel of perpetual adoration changed everything. One can find the most frequented border pass between Mexico and the United States: only a river (and the county border) divides it from the city of El Paso in Texas. Thanks to the location of the town the fight between the drug cartels got out of hand, putting Juarez to the top of the list of the most dangerous places on Earth. But nowadays, thank to the decline of the number of murders the town of 1,3 million citizens was removed from this blacklist: While in 2010 3766 cases were reported, by 2015 only 256 people have lost their lives in a violent act.

This improvement is considered to be the result of the local law enforcement, but according to Patricio Hileman, there is also a deeper root: Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist. "When you adore God day-and-night in a city, then that city is bound to change" - said Patricio Hileman, a Mexican priest, whose goal is to erect one thousand chapels for perpetual adoration in Latin-America.
