Everything comes alive

29 May 2020
”Don’t restart where we were stopped!”- asks Cardinal Péter Erdő. Along with the lessons learned during the forced confinement, the Primate speaks about the potential that is ahead of us through the current restart and the thriving openness of our life.

„Send your Spirit and everything will come alive. And you renew the face of the ground”– by these prayer words begin Péter Erdő’s video message, asking the Holy Spirit to renew both ourselves and the world around. The Cardinal recalls: some months ago the world has likely stopped.
“Many of us were longing to take the Sacraments. Many of us were hungerfor the Eucharist.” – referred the Chief Pastor to all those, who, given the forced confinement and precautions, were unable to take Christ’s body during the recent months. “Now, step by step, we return to a more vivid and open life, in other words –if you like-, back to normality. But we should not restart where we stopped! The lessons should be learned from!” – warns us Péter Erdő. At the same time he asks us to recognize the essential, to do our best to give a helping hand, not to mention the need to improve an increased solidarity between the generations. On top, we should seek for the most important of all: meeting Christ!
Let us have this kind of spirit in preparing ourselves for the Eucharistic World Congress, to be held in Budapest, 5-12 September 2021 – emphasizes the Cardinal, who does not seem of having the slightest down feeling that this notable Catholic World Event of Budapest, scheduled for the fall of this year, but, given the pandemic has failed, and has been postponed for the next year.
“We have been gifted by the mercy of Providence with a further year for our spiritual preparation” – summarizes Cardinal, Primate Péter Erdő and asks all of us to approach this coming year with humility, love and in the strength of the Holy Spirit.
