Let’s pray together for the ending of the pandemic

18 March 2020

Please find below the joint praying call of the International Eucharistic Congress, the publisher’s office of Magyar Kurír and Új Ember, as well as of the World Event messengers’ Csaba Böjte, András Csókay and Róbert Szikora.

Dear Friends!

We do hereby express our deep sympathy for the coronavirus infected patients both in Hungary and outside our country. We invite every one of you to talk together to God, since He is the source of our life and faith, He is the one giving us more than we deserve and we wish for. We ask Him to pour on us his mercy, to forgive what our conscience accuses us, and to give us from His fatherly goodness all that, we desire but do not dare to ask for.

We do express our call to all of you, that until the emergency situation is on, following the noon prayer, please whisper to God together with the prayer of Primate, Cardinal Péter Erdő asking for Virgin Mother’s protection with the help of the Holy Father’s offering prayers.

Please join us in our prayers!

THE PRAYER OF PRIMATE, CARDINAL PÉTER ERDŐ

Almightly LORD, GOD of our Fathers!

We bless you for the world, in which you enabled the mankind’s existence. We bless you for the entire wealth of the creation and its miraculous principles. We bless you for letting us survive despite all the destructive forces and that we are able to recognise new and new insights on our world and on ourselves.

We thank You for the opportunity to fight both individually and in community for our survival as well as for a better, nicer and a more meaningful life. But first and foremost we thank You for having been invited for the eternal life, and that through the redemptive death and the resurrection of Christ the Lord, the way has been opened for our eternal happiness.

Whenever a cataclysm hits us, against of which we are unable on our own to find a solid protection, we understand that after all our life is in Your hands.

Lord, we humbly beg to help the men of science to quickly find the antidote for the present pandemic! Please give the society leaders the insight, enabling them to take the appropriate measures in order to cut down the spread of the contagion, to help the prevention, to help the overcoming and the delivery of the effective tools to the needy. Please grant mercy and everlasting rest to the ones deceased in the disease, grant recovery to the ills and grant strength and blessings to the doctors and to all the healthcare staff for their courageous stand. Please strengthen our faith, confidence and helping love, so that we would be able to provide a maximum spiritual and physical assistance to our sick fellow humans as well as to the grieving and worried relatives. Please give that our responsible behaviour becomes an efficient contribution to prevent the spread of the disease.

Lord please forgive us all our sins that are committed by thought, by voice, by action and by failure.

Holy Trinity, One God, have mercy on us!

Blessed Virgin Mary, Salus Infirmorum, pray for us!

Amen.

Pope Francis’ offering prayers, whereby -having regard to the situation- the Holy Father entrusted to the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary, the sign of salvation and hope, the city of Rome, Italy and the entire World.

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.

At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,

with steadfast faith.

You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.

We are certain that you will provide, so that,

as you did at Cana of Galilee,

joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love,

to conform ourselves to the Father’s will

and to do what Jesus tells us:

He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,

through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.

Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
