Cardinal Tempesta: Virgin Mary means trust and hope

One of the guest speakers of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress, originally scheduled for September 2020, would have been the Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro. We do hope to see him, the “bulletproof Cardinal” -as he is called by many-, personally amongst us next year, during the Congress’ new date, 5-12 September 2021. The story of the Church leader, and the reason of his bizarre nickname is to be read here:
The ceremony was kind of a pilgrimage in reverse, as Cardinal Tempesta called this atypical event in the consecration Holy Mass. The celebrations were organized without the physical presence of the pilgrims due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, thus it was the Blessed Mary herself going out to the attendants’ homes. The consecration took place in the Chapel of Apparitions of Brazil, the only Fatima replica recognised in the world, and which houses the statue of Our Lady of Fatima.

The Holy Mass was transmitted by broadcast and by digital media online, and followed by thousands in this wise. The Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro talked about the Fatima apparitions that was put into context with the First World War, the Spanish flu, and the spread of ideologies being in conflict with the Catholic Faith. “God knows the reasons for the exile we are going through”, pray one and all so that we can again attend celebrations personally in the churches very soon”.
Tempesta asked all the followers watching the ceremony to hear anew the Fatima secrets and to converse them into a personal message.
“Given the current events and the signs of our times, that remind us to the human’s vulnerability, we should long for Jesus even more. Every day we should live and seek the Way of the Lord.” (…) “It is up to us Christians to announce that we are in need of God, since the meaning of both our life and the eternal life comes from Him. The very inner issues of our heart can be resolved only with the understanding that comes from Jesus Christ’s cross.”
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Cardinal blessed all the cameras and electronic devices used for the online broadcasting.
