On 28th May in the Railway Museum of Budapest His Eminence, Péter Card. Erdő has blessed the special vinyl-covered locomotive – announcing the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) and the minivans of the dioceses.

When opening the link of “Hungary’s railroad map of passenger transport”, one can see a blue cobweb framed by the borders of our country: the domestic railroad system, which binds our cities and region and keeps them in unity. Both inside and outside our borders. His Eminence, Péter Card. Erdő has blessed a special vinyl-covered engine and minivans in the Budapest Railroad Museum on 28th May, which will carry the news of the Eucharistic Congress to innumerable cities.

In his greeting words Péter Erdő told that the first voyage of the blessed locomotive will be to Csíksomlyó, it will transport the faithful to the visit of the Holy Father, and he added that the symbols on the sides of the engine draws our attention to the Eucharistic Congress, which will unite many in love. And the 17 minivans of the dioceses will help in the work of the preparation.

During the event Róbert Homolya, CEO of the Hungarian Railroad Company also greeted the gathered. He said this enginge-blessing is joyful and an honour. As the CEO stressed the International Eucharistic Congress of Budapest in 2020 will not be simply one of the events organised in our country: its value and significance is unquestionable in our modern, 21st century world.

The cca. 100 square meter surface of the 19 metres long TRAXX engine was covered in a couple of days, and – after the preparatory examination and maintenance – will tow the pilgrim train to the Holy Father’s visit. Until them it will not be used in scheduled trains – according to the plans. But after the visit to Csíksomlyó the passengers of the MÁV can see it all around the country, on different routes. And the 17 blessed minivans will help the work of the Hungarian dioceses in the preparation for the IEC.
