Rome is ready for the IEC!

On the 21st of November Péter Erdő met the international media at the press conference held in the Hungarian Pontifical Institute (HPI)

Cardinal Péter Erdő, Primate, visited Rome between 19-22 November. He gave a number of lectures in the Eternal City and introduced the preparations of the 2020 Budapest International Eucharistic Congress (IEC). The Chief Pastor met the Roman reporters of the international press at the press conference held in the Hungarian Pontifical Institute (HPI) on the 21st of November.

The event was co-organised by the press office of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress and the Embassy of Hungary to the Holy See. Ambassador Eduard Habsburg Lotharingiai took part in the conference and highlighted the importance of the 2020 Budapest international congress.

Cardinal Peter Erdő gave detailed information on the programmes and venues of the forthcoming congress, talked about the events which have taken place so far and about the promotion of the IEC. He put an emphasis on the opening mass of the one-week congress, which will be held in the new Puskás Ferenc Stadium, and in which more than four thousand children are going to meet Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.

The Chief Pastor pointed out that the registration for the IEC had already been started and drew the attention of the audience to the permanently upgraded website and the newsletter of the event.
