Fanaticism is meaningless

The guest speaker of the International Eucharistic Congress is of the view that anger tends to be against the old continent because: “Europe shows the world that extremism is meaningless.” As to him, the old European continent is a place where very diverse nations have succeeded in living together, in reaching agreement, all on the basis of their shared common values.
The President of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) also reacted to the newspaper headlines and social media posts that have already started to blame the immigration and the Islam.
“Right after the attack in Nice the Muslim Union of Luxembourg sent me a letter. They firmly wanted to tell me, in my capacities as the leader of the Catholic Church of Luxembourg, how horrified they were of this act of barbarity. The Imam of Bordeaux also expressed in clear terms that even Prophet Mohammed would have been ashamed of the attack in Nice. Further on, the Imam pointed out that Mohammed had been criticised many times already during his lifetime, still he never took these critiques seriously, and had never been upset.” – stated the Archbishop.
